My name is Denis Livasia, born on 2nd July 1992 son to the late Mr. Jeremiah Wafula and Mrs. Rose Wafula in a family of three children. I have a sister and brothers who are both in university. I am the last born in my family and still in high school. I live in Kisumu with my family but study at Mukumu Boys' High School in Kakamega district.
I started nursery school in 1996at Hill Side Nursery School. In 1998 I joined Victoria Primary School to do my Primary education for 8years. In 2006 I did my final examinations and passed. In February 2007 I joined Mukumu Boys High School to start my secondary education which takes four year. On January 5th 2010 I started my fourth form which is my final year in high school.
All through the years since my father died in 1999, my mother has had a difficult time trying to provide education for my siblings and I. My sister and brother have also had a difficult experience both in high and university since they often had to be sent back home for school fees. My sister is almost finishing her degree but my brother had to drop out due to lack of school fees. I hope to finish my form four successfully and join university to pursue my dream in business entrepreneurship.
My mother has tried her level best to raise us single handedly to be God fearing and educated children in the society. She has often raised money for our education through fundraises, loans and well-wishers since she her salary is not enough to survive on. My role model, John Carson, also had a similar experience being raised by a single mother, but he is now a surgeon and author of 'Gifted Hands' and other books. His stories inspire me to use my knowledge and skills to make the world a better place.
